Is it possible to extend the DescriptionManager in the (near) future to register tooltips like:

[Description("Job number", Tooltip="An unique identification for this job")]

Sorry for the extremely late answer.

Signum.Extensions has a Help module that is a wiki that let you add information to any Namespace/Class/Property/Operation/Query/Column. The information is stored in XML files and can be synchronized as entities change. Our idea is that this information can be integrated in the user interfaces of Signum.Windows and Signum.Web.

Our plan is to give more love to Signum.Help after the new page and documentation is ready. So something like November.

This is a more complete (and complex) solution than the one you're suggesting. Makes ore sense for big documentations than for small tooltips but we don't want to have a third method to document the application.

If you want to implement your simpler solution, It won't be that hard even without changing the framework. You have to create a new attribute, and add a task in Sigum.Windows Common static class.

I see there is a help module already in the framework. I have a couple of quesions
  • Is it working yet ?
  • Could you give us an example of the use ?
It would be fine for now if the help texts will be only stored in the database and in November the framework is indeed capable of generating a wiki style help page.
